Baha’is to Host
Informational Virtues-Class Meeting on Sept. 24, 2005

This fall, the Springfield
Baha’i community will offer an on-going series of “Virtues Classes”
for children between 5 and 12 years old.
An informational meeting to explain the classes and seek public input
will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24 at the
Springfield Baha’i Center, located at the
corner of 8th and Allen.
Mike Lang, who hosts a
weekly Baha’i TV show on Access 4, will MC the Sept. 24 meeting, which
is open to all. The meeting will include an overview of the upcoming
classes, and will seek input from parents and families as to the best
times to offer children’s virtues classes. Ice cream, cake and informal
socializing will also be part of the Sept. 24 meeting.
“Helping children develop
and nurture virtues like compassion, generosity, modesty, and
self-discipline are what we are attempting to do with these classes,”
said Lang. “There are several dedicated individuals within the local
Baha’i community who have researched and taught different virtues
curricula that are available on the web. We hope many parents will
consider enrolling their children in these classes.”
When implemented this fall,
the virtues classes will be held at the Springfield Baha’i Center. Music
and visual art projects will be a regular part of the classes, which
will be offered free of charge to the public. Parents will be asked to
sign a release form enabling their children to participate in the
classes. In addition, concurrent activities for parents will be offered
along with the children’s virtues classes. The Baha’i community may
also be reached at 544-9595.
