Cornucopia of the Arts Slated at
Lincoln Library, Springfield, IL

November 5, 2006

A “Veritable Cornucopia of the Arts,” featuring live music, dramatic readings, and a multi-media visual arts presentation, will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, November 5 at the downtown Springfield Lincoln Library, Carnegie Room north.
Address: 326 S. 7th St., Springfield IL 62701.

The free event is open to all, and is sponsored by the Springfield-area Baha’i community. Many of the various artistic presentations will underscore the central Baha’i concepts of the oneness of God, the oneness of religion, and the oneness of humankind.

Artists scheduled to perform/exhibit include Urbana playwright and actress Helen Katz, who will make a dramatic presentation on race relations, which is often described by Baha’is as America’s most vital and challenging issue. Springfield Artist James Johnston will make a multi-media presentation of his well-traveled Garden of Humanity art exhibit (www.gardenofhumanity.com), which will be on display at the Downtown Springfield library (2nd floor) for the entire month of November.

Other participants include Decatur residents Mulopo and Kate Mulomede, who will perform original Baha'i-themed music in the Central African tradition with their two daughters. Springfield poet/musician Job Conger will perform, as will 9-year-old Saba Esmailzadegan of Chatham. In addition, Nancy Flood of Springfield will read an original short story.

"We hope attendees will come away from this celebration of the arts with a greater appreciation for the diversity that comprises the human family,” said event organizer James Johnston.
